Kássia Borges

Kássia Borges Karajá (Goiânia, 1962) is a visual artist, researcher, teacher and curator. She mainly researches issues surrounding women and ancestry. Drawing on her knowledge of traditional Karajá ceramics, she focuses mainly on clay for her contemporary creations. In addition to her research into ceramics, she is also a member of the MAHKU (Huni Kuin Artists Movement) collective, which was featured in the 60th edition of the Venice Biennale.
She has participated in salons and exhibitions at national and international institutions, such as the SARP Salon, Ribeirão Preto; Salão da Cidade, Porto Alegre; Salão Victor Meireles, Florianópolis; Salão CELG Award, Goiânia; CCBB São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte; Instituto Moreira Sales São Paulo; Pinacoteca de São Paulo; Haus der Kunst, Germany; Museum Tinguely Basel, Switzerland. His works are in collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Goiânia, Pinacoteca de São Paulo and MASP. She is a member of the Board of the Rouanet Institute. She is curator of the Uberlândia Indian Museum and adjunct curator of MASP.
