Kássia Borges Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, b. 1962

Kássia Borges Karajá is a visual artist, researcher, teacher and curator.

Drawing on her knowledge of traditional Karaja pottery, she focuses mainly on clay for her contemporary creations. She researches origin, Woman and ancestry. PhD in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability in Amazonas by UFAM (AM), Master in Visual Arts UFRGS. (2003); post-graduation in Political Philosophy UFU (1990), graduation in Visual Arts UFU (1987). As a researcher, she is a member of REALP, a network of environmental studies in the Portuguese language, participating in conferences and published articles, and is an assistant professor at the Institute of Arts at the Federal University of Uberlândia, where she teaches ceramic. In addition to her ceramic production, she also participates in the collective MAHKU (Huni Kuin Artists Movement).

She has participated in salons and exhibitions such as Salon SARP- Ribeirão Preto - SP, Salon of the city of Porto Alegre -RS, Salon Victor Meireles-Florianópolis – SC, CELG Salon Award, Goiânia – GO, CCBB São Paulo, Rio, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Instituto Moreira Sales, Véxoa Exhibition Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Festival CURA Belo Horizonte, UFAM Manaus, UFBA Salvador ,Haus der Kunst Germany, Museum Tinguely Basel-Switzerland, her works are in some collections such as, Museum of Contemporary Art of Goiânia - GO, Pinacoteca de São Paulo and MASP.

She is a member of the Board of the Rouanet Institute, curator of the Museu do Índio de Uberlândia and assistant curator of MASP. She has been curating exhibitions in Brazil and abroad.
